Indian Whistlers' Association (IWA)
Membership Guidelines

Applicants wanting to become members of IWA may kindly read the membership details and guidelines below:

1. Membership Categories

2. Before being admitted as a member, all applicants need to fill up a Questionnaire (download from here) about themselves and submit it to their Zonal head.

3. Membership approvals are based on auditions taken by the Zonal committee.

4. Membership renewal fees to be paid between 1st and 15th of April of the relevant financial year.

5. If a member fails to renew his/her membership within the stipulated time the membership will lapse and fresh membership shall require payment of registration fees again.

6. Inspiring Membership will be granted only to those who have prior experience and are fluent in whistling with karaoke files.

7. Aspiring/Inspiring Members joining after 1st October have to pay minimum 6 months membership.

8. Online members can take physical part in internal IWA events on payment of a nominal participation fee of Rs 200/ per event.

9. Online members can take physical part in a public IWA event only if found capable by the committee and on payment of a nominal participation fee of Rs 200/ per event.

10. All fees payable only by cheque in favour of Indian Whistlers’ Association. For rare situations if a member is unable to pay cheque the Zonal head shall at his/her discretion accept cash and issue a receipt immediately. Any membership fee accepted by cash must be deposited into the bank with appropriate details about the member.

11. Membership fees are subject to revision from time to time.

12. *Participation at any public event requires a minimum 3 months Inspiring membership prior to event.

13. *Participation at any public event requires minimum 40% attendance at meetings, and 60% at practice sessions.

14. *Participation at any public event is on merit and rotation basis and is a privilege for whistlers and not their right. Inspiring membership does not automatically guarantee participation in public shows.

15. All members are expected to stand up for the cause of spreading whistling and strengthening the association by shouldering responsibilities like arranging venues, selling tickets, getting sponsors and helping the committee in organizing such events when required.

16. IWA will share some part of the net profit from an event with the participating member in that event as per the discretion of the Zonal Committee.

17. Though not mandatory, members of IWA earning any income by way of private shows are expected to contribute some part of the income to IWA as token of appreciation for all the support, guidance and grooming the member has received from IWA.

18. The detailed IWA bye-laws, rules and regulations, are available for perusal with the respective Zonal heads

19. The IWA Management Committee is comprised of:

20. The decisions of the Central and National Committee are binding on all members.

21. After reading and accepting the above guidelines, applicants wanting to become members are requested to fill in the Joining Request Questionnaire and email it to their Zonal head.
